Sudentupa is built from genuine kelo pine — the silver-grey, naturally dried timber that gives Nordic cabins their unmistakable warmth and character. The heavy log walls, a centrepiece soapstone fireplace, warm lighting and large windows create an atmosphere that feels equally at home in deep winter snow and the golden light of a Lapland summer.

The apartment spans three levels and 75 m², sleeping up to 6 across a separate bedroom and a spacious loft. For families with small children, a travel crib, high chair, children's dinnerware, fireplace guards and baby safety gates are all provided — the kind of gear that makes a real difference when you're travelling with little ones.

The centrepiece of the living room is a grand soapstone fireplace that radiates gentle, long-lasting heat. Large windows frame views of the surrounding nature and fill the space with natural light, making the open living area the natural heart of the cabin.

Unwind after an active day in your own private sauna. The hallway also features a drying cabinet — a detail that makes all the difference when you're returning from the slopes or trails with wet gear. An outdoor storage and woodshed are available for guest use, along with an outdoor dining area on the covered terrace.

The kitchen is stocked for real cooking — fridge, freezer, oven, ceramic stove, microwave, dishwasher, toaster, kettle and plenty of counter space. Coffee is covered too, with both a Nespresso and a drip coffee maker. Everything you need for a proper home-cooked meal after a day in the outdoors.

Step outside onto the covered front terrace or balcony and take in the peaceful surroundings of Topinranta by Kesäjärvi lake. The setting is calm and natural, with lake access just steps away — yet Ruka's services are never far. Sudentupa is best suited for guests who appreciate a peaceful stay close to nature; quiet hours are from 10 pm to 7 am.

The SkiBus stop is just 50 metres away, cross-country ski tracks start nearby, and Ruka village with its lifts, restaurants and shops is around 2 km. A grocery store, Alko and a petrol station are a 10-minute walk away. Two private parking spots are included directly in front of the apartment.

The entrance hall has generous storage and a drying cabinet — essential after a day on the slopes or trails. Note that the cabin currently has no WiFi; the TV works for regular channels and an HDMI cable is available for your own device. Bed linen and towels are not included — bring your own or order a set from our caretaker in advance. Sudentupa is pet-friendly by prior agreement. 🐾

The best cross-country tracks start just minutes from the door. For downhill skiing, the Ruka slopes are a short SkiBus ride away. In summer, Kesäjärvi is perfect for a morning swim or an evening kayak, and the Karhunkierros trail network — one of Finland's finest — has trailheads within easy reach of Sudentupa.
